Best of Sri Lanka – Ella and the Nine Arch Bridge

It was supposed to be a beach hangout, warm weather sun-bathing, flip-flop wearing, lazy and relaxing trip to Sri Lanka. It was all that and so much more. I landed in this country on Jan. 20th and would end up spending the next three weeks here.  I can clearly recall walking out of the airport and feeling the tropical wind hit my body as my eyes saw vivid natural colors that were missing in New York City due to the winter weather months.  I was filled with intense joy and knew that I was in for one hell of an amazing adventure.

Below are a few photos from my trip that were favorite amongst the thousands that I would take here during my travels.  I’ve decided to create short videos to highlight my experience in key locations and tourist destinations that can be found on my youtube channel.

The Nine Arch Bridge was fully constructed with stone and cement due to lack of steel at time of construction (1921).  The steel was redirected to support the British was efforts during WWI.

Walking across the bridge gives a great chance to take beautiful pictures and admire the height of the bridge from above.

The local train ride from Kandy to Ella is one of the greatest experience one can have while visiting Sri Lanka.  Have your cameras ready at all times!
